I walked into Anna’s office, and she and her coworkers discussed their upcoming test. Finally, one of the guys said,” Anna, I guess you will do a reset?”
After thinking about this, I realized how badly I needed a reset. Have you ever required a reset? A reset mind, body, and soul?
To reset it to set again, to set, adjust or fix in a new or different way.
I am going to be honest; I need a reset. Michele looked at me the other day and said, “Misti, you have the most chaotic life I know.”
So how do I reset? First, you must realize what you need to reset. I need to reset my mind, body, and soul, not just one but a complete reset.
So, to begin the reset, you must reset your mindset. Next, we must reboot our brains.
Here are some ways to reboot and reset your brain:
• Get enough sleep
• Eat correctly
• Exercise or get outside
• Create a routine
• Say no
• Disconnect
• Neutralize toxic people
• Use your support system
• Put things in perspective
• Have mindfulness (taking control of thoughts, everyday thinking, not letting thoughts get out of control) Downhill spiral taking your thoughts captive, mindful of your mind
Jesus took time to reset. Many people miss the importance of Jesus and his solitude and silence. Jesus continually withdraws from people, daily life activities, and the demands of his ministry to be alone with God and pray. His ongoing, intimate relationship with his father is the source of the compassion, wisdom, and power we see in these gospels’ pages.
It’s how he began his ministry. It’s how he made important decisions. It’s how he dealt with troubling emotions like grief. It’s how He dealt with the constant demands of his ministry and cared for his soul. It’s how He taught his disciples. It’s how He prepared for important ministry events. Finally, it’s how He prepared for his death on the cross.
The disconnect Jesus made was He reconnected to His father. It was His reset.
These are several scriptures I found about our minds and how focusing on Him resets our minds:
Romans 12:1-2 is asking the Lord to guard and direct your mind.
12 1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you and develops well-formed maturity in you.
(Colossians 3:1-2) If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
(Romans 8:5) For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
(Philippians 4:8) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Resetting is the fuel for renewal and recharge. Just unplug.
Nothing in nature blooms all year, so you don’t have too either.
If you neglect to recharge the battery, it dies.
