Sunday is our cantata at First Methodist Church Stuttgart. I am singing a song entitled He Is Worthy.
I was thinking about last weekend and Personal Pep Rally being honored at the Cattle Baron’s Ball in Little Rock put on by the American Cancer Society. As I thought about our award, I realized that we aren’t worthy of any praise; only He is worthy.
I think back over the past ten years, and all the different God winks I have received:
Christ telling me don’t be fearful
Receiving a NUDGE in the Target parking lot
Mrs. Avery stopping me and sharing that I was wasted within the school district
There are many other moments I know God was setting me up for my purpose.
One of my friends gave me a new book for advent, The First Songs of Christmas. The first day is entitled, Never Impossible. It discusses Mary and how it seemed impossible for her to carry Jesus, a virgin. The last paragraph is my favorite:
Surely in this December season, you’re faced with God-assigned tasks where you’re asking, “How can I do this? I don’t have the ability. I don’t have the time. I don’t have the resources. This is impossible!” but your task, like Mary’s task, is meant to be made possible only by the power of the Holy Spirit. You and I must be willing to surrender ourselves by faith and let God take over, knowing He also can do the impossible through us.
When we are connected to God, He puts our purpose into motion. Our purpose may seem unrealistic, impossible, and challenging, but this causes us to rely on Him.
There isn’t any way we could do what we do if it weren’t for Christ because He is the only one worthy.
