For months we have been preparing for today. A day that Personal Pep Rally will be recognized for our mission work. It is a day for me that is full of joy, yet sadness. That seems strange; however, when filled with the fruits of the Spirit, you can have both attributes, two opposite characteristics.
While reading The First Songs of Christmas, the words gave me an aha moment. On day three, the writer discusses how her dad used to tell her this.
“When talking to others, always asks about them first. People tend to focus inward but focusing outward represents love. Love is concerned with the other person. Love focuses outward. When you desire more from your life than merely personal blessings, He will open ministry doors to others going through similar circumstances and situations.”
When we do this and are led by Christ, He puts into motion His purpose for our lives. He enables us to accomplish all that He has purposed us to do. Then, we realize that it is not in our strength, skill, or success but through Christ. We must be willing to surrender ourselves by faith and let God take over, knowing He alone can do the impossible through us.
All of this is on point. When I think about what we have accomplished. How we have reached hundreds of people throughout the United States, I realize that it is NOT because of us. It is because of Him.
So, what better to learn than now during the advent season? First, we should show love to others and recognize why we can accomplish tasks like those set-in front of us.
We are very humbled to be honored tonight and realize that it is only because of Christ and the love He shows for us that we can show love and reach hundreds. Apart from Him, we accomplish nothing.
