Turn It Around

TURN IT AROUND

Last week was a crazy week. It was just one of those weeks. It was hectic, full of surprises and full of issues.  It was one of those weeks you would like to skip over.  You know what I mean?  I am sure you have had one before.

The few days that I had Barrett we had to watch a movie.  Our favorite movie now is Pitch Perfect and our favorite song- hold on- turn the beat around!  Yep!  I have been singing it all weekend, and while singing it, I thought how true, TURN IT AROUND.  There is ALWAYS ANOTHER OPTION.

Let me share some other examples of situations that occurred.

  • Our church Livestream wouldn’t work because of storms.  I was so upset. We are in Houston and had planned to stay in and watch the live stream.  I texted our pastor and asked if he would Facebook live!  He did and Wala we got to watch.  It was awesome too.
  • Lauren found a restaurant where she wanted breakfast.  She got on line ordered all of this great food, we got into the car to pull out of parking garage and guess what?  The gate wouldn’t open.  Storms were also happening in Texas, so we had no power.  No power no gate open.  I said it is ok we can UBER!  That we did.

Turn the situation around ALWAYS ANOTHER OPTION.

I found a great article written by Joyce Meyer, Getting Through Hard Times.  (I referenced with the link on the bottom as an extra read.) Joyce refers to the scripture Hebrews 12:2 and says this:

Hebrews 12:2says that Jesus, for the joy of obtaining the prize on the other side of the cross—the resurrection—endured the pain. Like Jesus, we have to endure bad things. To endure means to outlast the devil; to be steadfast long enough to let the trial do whatever it’s going to do in our lives and get from one side of the cross to the other.

So, I want to remember that Jesus endured the cross because He knew what was waiting on the other side of it. In our daily lives, we are going to have to endure some things, and we’re going to face some hard times. But the only way to do it is to go through it.

Whether we’re hit by an unexpected circumstance, suffering for doing something wrong or for resisting temptation and sin by doing what’s right, we have to go through things. But waiting for you on the other side of the hard times is the joy of obtaining the prize—the good result.

As we are approaching Easter, let our minds wander to Jesus.  Jesus knew He was placed on this earth to TURN IT AROUND.  Did he want to?  Did Jesus enjoy the pain and suffering for us?  What do you think?

I think probably not however he knew that by making His way to the cross He was making a choice for the world.  He was going through the difficult times just as we do today.  He was suffering through the crucifixion so that He could be resurrected for the world.

Two sides of the cross, to see the benefit of the cross we must TURN IT AROUNDfrom one side to the other.  On one side we see the crucifixion, but on the other, we see the resurrection.

Just like Jesus, we have to endure one side to get to the other.

Romans 8:28 NIV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

The commentary of this scripture blew me away.

God works in all things not just isolated incidents for our good.  This doesn’t mean that all that happens to us is good.  Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able toturn every circumstance around for our long-range good.  God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose.  Note also that this promise isn’t for everyone.  It can be claimed only by those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Those who are called are those that the holy spirit convinces and enables to receive Christ.  Such people have a new perspective a new mindset on life.  They trust in, not life’s treasure they look for this security in heaven, not on earth they learned to accept not resent pain and persecution because God is with them.

Trust God to work out your situation.  Trust Him with the other option.  Trust Him to turn it around and remember everything that happens He can turn it around for good.

CHALLENGES OF THE WEEK:

  • KEEP YOUR DAILY APPOINTMENT
  • DIG DEEP INTO HIS WORD
  • TURN YOUR SITUATION AROUND
  • FILL YOUR CUP WITH CHRIST SO THAT YOU CAN FILL OTHER CUPS

Hebrews 12 NIV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so entangles.  And let us run this race with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.

All it takes is a few passionate people to change the world.
