A friend of mine was having a difficult day, uncertain about what the future held. As we talked, I mentioned, “The in-between is the hardest.”
The in-between refers to the time when we know what has happened but have no idea what will happen next or until the situation is resolved.
I often say that I love to see God work. The very next day, during our yoga class, our instructor concluded the session by reading a message, and I couldn’t believe it when she mentioned “the in-between.” It was an AH-HA moment.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you know what you know but are unsure of what lies ahead?
When we start to worry about the future, we fall into the trap the devil sets for us. He wants us to focus on what’s coming next so that we can’t concentrate on what’s happening now. We must remember that the devil is deceitful. In my Bible study The Bible Recap on day 70 we began going over Deuteronomy 1-2. There was a sentence that grabbed me. “Fear magnifies the enemy and diminishes the perception of God.” This is so true; fear is a liar. Often, we cannot change our circumstances, so we need to stop worrying and focus on God, embracing the day as it is.
As we begin Lent, I recently read a post on The Bible Recap that discussed the crucifixion of Jesus. It described how He was beaten, spat upon, had His hair ripped out by the roots, forced to carry the cross, and tortured. None of us can fully grasp the extent of that cruelty. All of this occurred on Friday—a heavy day filled with sorrow. Regardless of what you may be dealing with, whether mentally or physically, the burdens you carry can feel overwhelming. Then came Saturday, the day in between. It was a day shrouded in uncertainty. People were sad, worried, and probably full of doubt and questions. They struggled with a flood of emotions over what had happened, questioning why Jesus, the man they believed to be the Messiah, was crucified. They might have thought that the prophecies had failed.
But then it was Sunday. Jesus rose from the dead. HALLELUJAH!
Just think about how the disciples felt on Saturday—much like we do when we face situations filled with fear of the unknown. We live in the Saturdays the in between many days.
This is the meditation that Krystal read us at yoga:
There is a place called the in-between.
A place where you don’t quite fit into your old life.
But you have not yet arrived at your next destination.
And while it may feel frustrating at times, this is a space of transformation.
So let go.
Allow yourself to be where you are, in this moment, without forcing the future or resenting the past.
This stage will pass, too, and soon, you’ll look back with gratitude for the lessons and growth it brought you.
Find Christ in the in-between. He brings peace in the middle, on the Saturday after the heavy Friday and the Hallelujah Sunday.
So this week remember these things to receive JOY:
1. **Show up for JESUS** – Start your day in the Word.
2. **Show up for OTHERS** – Serve others, whether they are like you or not, whether they annoy you or you don’t understand them. That is what Jesus did; He showed up for EVERYONE.
3. **Show up for YOU**—You need to fill your cup before you can help fill others’ cups.
We will find JOY when we show up for Jesus, others, and ourselves.
Have a great week, Love to ALL! Cupcake
