Matthew 27
I just couldn’t figure out what to discuss for Coffee with Cupcake, but then it hit me—Jesus, of course. It is Holy Week. Yesterday, Brother Bryan discussed the Centurion who was with Jesus during His crucifixion. I began to ponder everything that happened during the week and what everyone was doing, so I researched it.

This is an excellent look at Jesus’s timeline, but I will shorten it for you and ask you some questions you can ponder, just like I did.
Day 1 Palm Sunday
Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, and everyone was waving palm branches, which symbolize triumph. Jesus riding in on a donkey showed humility and was a sign of servitude.
Are we humble? Do we have a servant’s heart?
Day 2 Monday
Jesus and the disciples walked by the fig tree that didn’t bear fruit. Jesus cursed the tree, and it withered. He related the fig tree and no fruit to Israel bearing no faith. Onward, they went to the temple, which was to be a house of prayer; however, it was corrupted by money. Jesus was so upset.
Do we bear spiritual fruit, or do we resemble the world and what the world wants?
Day 3 Tuesday
Jesus spoke to His companions about the importance of faith, and He gave the prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem. The Jews were going to arrest Jesus, but Jesus said nope, not today.
Do we value faith? Does our faith shine from the inside out? Do we trust that Jesus is the Messiah?
Day 4 Wednesday
Not much is said about Wednesday. Many think that Jesus rested on this day. I started to ponder yes, it was hump day. We all need a break to make it through the week.
Do we rest when we need to?
Day 5 Thursday
What a somber day it is—Maundy Thursday. The day that Jesus washed feet, had the Passover meal—the last supper—and went to the Garden of Gethsemane and Judas—wow, enough said.
Where would we be during all of this? Would we have understood what Jesus was telling us or showing us? Would we have understood the washing of feet? Would we have felt his anguish?
Day 6th Good Friday
Good Friday- the day of trial, conviction, and death. Judas hung himself. Think of all the people on that day and what part they played. There was Pilate, Pilate’s wife, who said no, don’t crucify Him. He is innocent. Mary, the mother of Jesus; Simon, who carried the cross; Mary Magdalene, the Roman soldiers, the criminals; and John.
Would your name have been on this list? Would you have been in the crowd? Would you have watched Jesus die on the cross? Would you have hidden behind in the shadows? Would you have carried Jesus’ cross?
Day 7th Jesus in the tomb
Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea were Jesus’s secret followers, members of the Sanhedrin, and part of the court that condemned Jesus prepared His body.
Would you have been a secret follower?
Day 8 EASTER HALLILUAH! CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY!!!
So this week remember these things to receive JOY:
1. **Show up for JESUS** – Start your day in the Word.
2. **Show up for OTHERS** – Serve others, whether they are like you or not, whether they annoy you or you don’t understand them. That is what Jesus did; He showed up for EVERYONE.
3. **Show up for YOU**—You need to fill your cup before you can help fill others’ cups.
We will find JOY when we show up for Jesus, others, and ourselves.
Have a great week, Love to ALL! Cupcake
