(NO OTHER GOD)

Christmas is right around the corner, and this is the perfect time to address NO OTHER NAME- NO OTHER GOD.

Ask yourself these questions:

• What do you think about?

• What do you talk about?

• What values are most important to you?

• What distracts you away from Christ?

• Do your actions reflect God?

How you answer these questions will show you what you put before God.

Let’s look at some definitions: 

GOD  

•    DIVINE BEING, CREATOR RULER MORAL AUTHORITY SUPREME BEING

•    The being perfect in power wisdom and goodness who is worshipped. THAT WHICH IS WORSHIPPED.

WORSHIP 

•    show reverence and adoration for, honor adore exalt (what we spend time doing and talking about) extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem worship of the dollar.

IDOL 

•    anything we want more than God, we rely on more than god, anything we look to for greater fulfillment than god

IDOLATRY 

•    is the hidden sin driving all other sins

WHAT DO YOU WORSHIP?

People, money, your job?

1 JOHN 2:15 NIV 

Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world if anyone loves the world love for the father is not in him.

When we put God second, we are placing worldliness first.  Worldliness can be external- people, places, and activities.  It can also be internal- the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life.  What this means is that we can lust the physical that gratifies our desires. We can crave and accumulate things, worshiping money and causing us to become focused on materialism.  Or thirdly we may be obsessed with how important we think we are.

This is how we are tempted by Satan and when Satan tempts us it is difficult to remember that God is first, and our desires are second.  We are all guilty, however, putting God first is the only way that we will find pure JOY. We will find happiness with the other, but happiness is fleeting.  It comes and goes.

So, what is it going to be? PURE JOY or FLEETING HAPPINESS!

One other BIG thing that I want to discuss is social media.  There are some great things about social media, however, remember that anyone can make their life look awesome on social media.  Just saying!  Don’t’ be fooled by the way things “look.”  Nothing is ever as good as it seems.  When we go to social media before God worldliness is going to consume you. Remember anyone can make their life look AWESOME through the social spotlight.

Your status- relational, social, vocational or financial – does not matter.  Your sole goal is to glory God and to be obedient to him.

Why wouldn’t you glorify Him?

He is the one and only. He brings about healing, wholeness, peace, and purpose.  He gives meaning to everything in the world.  He is the cornerstone, nothing is impossible for Him. Who else loves all of us unconditionally and unites everyone?  Who suffered on a cross and endured the pain for our wrongdoings?

There is no other name- JESUS.

We are loved by none other. We are healed by none other.  We are saved by none other.

ROMANS 10:13 NIV

Everyone who calls on the NAME OF THE LORD will be saved

What is it going to be?  NO OTHER NAME!

• Keep your daily appointment

• Ask yourself every day what do I put first?

• Fill your cup with Christ so you can fill others cups.
