JUST TRUST JESUS
Tomorrow a NEW YEAR 2019 right around the corner. There are many new things to do and try. Resolutions are what everyone thinks they should be deciding however we are going to do something a little different. We are all going to choose our motto of the year. Yes, those three little words that you are going to live every single day.
First, let’s look at what the definition of motto is.
Motto: a sentence or phrase chosen as encapsulating the beliefs or ideals guiding an individual, family, or institution.
Your motto is going to be three words that will guide you through 2019. Anytime you need to shift your mindset you will be able to go to these three little words and change your thinking. We all know that at times we need an attitude adjustment to get us back on track.
Why three little words?
In August I started my THREE LITTLE WORD journey. Three little words can be powerful. Just a few words can make a significant difference in your life or someone else’s. When spoken 3 little word statements have the power to create new friendships or restore old ones. They can give much-needed healing and convey empathy. Just a few little words can make a difference and enrich the life of those on the sharing end and the one on the receiving end.
The first illustration I used to illustrate THREE LITTLE WORDS was a triangle. 
Why the triangle?
My first thoughts were that the triangle depicts the 3 in 1- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the most important reason. With 3 sides each side represents 1, so 1X1X1 still equals 1 and we all know that God is the one and only.
Biblically three is a number that means completion. The resurrection took three days. God is omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. In Isaiah 6:3 the Seraphim cried Holy Holy, Holy one for the three persons in the Trinity. There were three main patriarchs in the old testament Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Noah had three sons, three visitors appeared to Abraham, and Jonah was inside the belly of the whale for three days. Three wise men followed a star to see Jesus, Jesus answered Satan’s temptations with three scriptures, Peter denied Jesus three times, and Jesus’s ministry lasted three years.
Outside the Bible, there are three persons in grammar, three completing times the past, the present and the future. The 3 list goes on and on.
Did you realize how much is related to the number 3?
Next are the facts of a triangle. It is known that a triangle is strong. It is the building block to many structures. The triangle is considered the strongest shape. Its structure alleviates the pressure of any weight and will only collapse due to material fatigue. The triangle is a stable figure that is always pointing upward. How awesome is that?
How do we choose our 3 Little Words?
- Pray to ask God to help us with our need (He will lead you to your words)
- Read your Bible (Example- Romans 8:29 BE CHRIST LIKE Revelation 4:11 YOU ARE WORTHY)
- Listen and pay attention (God’s nudges, your words)
What do we do with our words?
Dig deep into why you chose those words (what do you want these three words to do?)
- Find a scripture that relates to your words (dive into the word and find a new scripture for each week, ponder on this scripture, dig into the chapter that you found the scripture located in- read the scriptures before and after)
- Ask others what scripture they feel goes with the words and why (other viewpoints can sometimes be better than ours or may help us see something differently)
My three little words for this year are TRUST IN HIM.
- THINK- What do you need? What makes you fearful? What area is your weakness?
- Google scripture for your words (make a list of scriptures)
- Pick a scripture and read the whole chapter
- Annotate the text (can write in the bible or copy and mark)
After you chose your 3 Little Words remember that these words are to guide us to love, to serve and to build God’s kingdom. We do this by using our head, our hearts, and our hands. These 3 words will be able to shift our mindset when we tend to wander off the path that God has placed in front of us.
God’s triangle is stable, strong, and supportive. Build 2019 upon God’s triangle listening to Him and following the NUDGES that He places in front of you. When God is your building block your foundation of triangles, no matter what type of journey you walk through in 2019 walking it with Him will give you JOY.
