IN THE TRANSITION

September 8, 2025 • Leave a Comment

Transitions are everywhere. You can find them in sentences or situations. A transition is when we change from one thing to another, from one condition to another. A transition is also a link that connects things. It can serve as a passage that includes a shift. A transition word can link phrases or sentences to help the reader progress from one idea to the next. It can also be found in a book, where the narrative transitions and undergoes a dramatic change. It can also be found in music, where you’re in a key and then abruptly transition into another.

You may be thinking, ‘Okay, where are you going with this?’

In the mornings, I take Barrett to school, then I swing around and scoop up the triplets and bring them to PAE. Let’s face it, mornings can be hectic for families. Everyone is trying to get ready to go to school and get to work. There can be tension and short fuses, especially if you are running late. I remember those days when I would rush to get out the door on time, not late.

As a grandma, I realized I am the transition—the slow and steady. On the ride to school, we read our scripture and make sure we have everything we need. It is the transition that sets the tone of the day.

Let’s face it, we are all in transitions constantly. Some of our transitions are faster, more furious, and nerve-racking, while others may be calm and collected.

As I began watching The Chosen season 4 last week, I realized that John the Baptist was a transition for Jesus, and Jesus was the transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.

John the Baptist was setting the stage for Jesus. He and Jesus had a brotherly relationship. John was preparing the way for the coming of Jesus. He was calling people to repentance and baptizing them in the Jordan River. He acted as a forerunner and a messenger of God.

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection fulfilled the Old Testament law and the prophets, shifting humanity from a focus on the law to an era of grace through faith in Him. He was the transition from a life dominated by sin and darkness to one of having a new life in Christ. When Jesus was preparing his disciples for his transition, he promised them three things. I will not leave you as orphans. I will give you another advocate, and I will

give you my peace.

If you are in the middle of a transition, remember that transitions are a part of the norm; however, they usually involve a change. Often, during transition periods, we question and doubt. We ask why? Why are we going through a transition? Where is God in this change? Change can be difficult, but if we hold on to God’s promises, we will be strengthened through the transition. Go back to what he told the disciples: ‘I will not leave you; you will have the Holy Spirit with you, and I will give you peace.

Christ can make our transitions more peaceful and set the tone for the days to come.

This week, take a moment to remind yourself God is with you during all your transitions, and we need to do our part so remember to:

1.Show up for JESUS – Start your day in the Word.

2. Show up for OTHERS – Serve others, whether they are like you or not, whether they annoy you or are difficult to understand. That is what Jesus did; He showed up for everyone.

3. Show up for YOU – You need to fill your cup before you can help fill others’ cups.

WE WILL FIND JOY WHEN WE SHOW UP FOR JESUS, OTHERS, AND OURSELVES.

As Father Mike says, “You pray for me, and I will pray for you.”

And as Tara Leigh says He’s where the joy is.

Have a great week, Cupcake loves you.

Hebrews 12 NIV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so entangles.  And let us run this race with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
