He’s Not Done

May 5, 2025 • Leave a Comment

Damilola Bamiloye gave the verse of the day on the Bible App on Friday, May 2, 2025.

It was fantastic, and he talked about how God isn’t done with you yet. He said this:

We may not be where we need to be in life, but we see our flaws, struggles, and weaknesses and wonder if we will ever be the people God wants us to be. But Philippians 1:6 reminds us of a powerful truth: God is not done with you yet. God is committed to finishing what he has started in your life. He is ready to shape, mold, and refine you daily, but while God works, are you willing to work with him? Growing in Christ requires you to surrender. Allowing him to correct you, teach you, and guide you. We are a work in progress, and we must continue to strive to grow in God. Never get to a point in your walk with God where you think you have arrived that you are perfect. We are never finished with our walk with God. We are to get to know him more and more. The one who started with you will not leave you halfway. He will complete his good work in your life.

I wanted to visit the scripture that was referenced in the verse of the day, Philippians 1:6, but I am beginning with vs.3

Thanksgiving and Prayer NIV Bible Gateway:

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

When the Apostle Paul was locked in a Roman prison for telling people about Jesus, he sent a letter of hope to his friends back in Philippi. The Philippians were remembered with joy and thanksgiving. They were willing to be used by God for whatever he wanted them to do. They were partners in spreading the good news; they helped people. They helped financially while Paul was in prison.

Paul told them that God finishes a project when He begins it. God’s not giving up on you. He promises to finish what he begins.

I go back to 2010- 15 years ago- when I was in the high school parking lot and a long sub-Ms. Avery met me there. She told me she had put me on her prayer list at her church. Well, that is a little scary when nothing is happening in your life, but I told her thank you for adding me. She told me she did because God told her I was wasted at Stuttgart High School. There is a world out there that I am going to reach.

There have been times in my life when I could have just thrown in the towel and thought, “Well, God is not done with me.”  Ms. Avery’s prophetic words have kept me going for many years now. When I get in a slump, I always go back to her powerful and true words. God was not done with me.

I think about other people like- David Walker, who has a story to tell and has been drafted into the NFL. Katie’s friend Katie was in an accident and is still in rehab. Both have had adversity but are pressing on and celebrating Christ and giving Him the glory.

The common denominator among those who continue to keep going is those who know GOD ISN’T FINISH YET. It’s because of Christ and only Christ that people keep going.

So, whenever you are discouraged, not making progress, feeling incomplete, unfinished, or feeling that you are too old or maybe too young or distressed, don’t let your current position rob you of the joy of knowing Christ. Always remember God’s not finished with you yet.

To remember this lesson, remember the JOY J-O-Y:

•           Begin with JESUS everyday

•           Serve OTHERS

•           Take care of yourself- fill YOUR cup so you can fill other cups

Like Father Mike says I’ll pray for you, you pray for me.

Cupcake loves you all.

Have a great week!

Hebrews 12 NIV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so entangles.  And let us run this race with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.

All it takes is a few passionate people to change the world.
