One of our new favorite song’s is Don’t Give Up on Meby Andy Grammer. This song is the theme song for the movie Five Feet Apart. If you haven’t seen it, you need to watch it. It is awesome.
The lyrics of the song go like this:
I will fight I will fight for you
I always do, until my heart Is black and blue
And I will stay I will stay with you
We’ll make it to the other side Like lovers do
I’ll reach my hands out in the dark
And wait for yours to interlock
I’ll wait for you I’ll wait for you
Cause I’m not givin’ up I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up
No not yet Even when I’m down to my last breath
Even when they say there’s nothin’ left
So don’t give up on
I’m not givin’ up I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up No not me
Even when nobody else believes
I’m not goin’ down that easily
So don’t give up on me
And I will hold I’ll hold onto you
No matter what this world’ll throw I won’t shake me loose
I’ll reach my hands out in the dark And wait for yours to interlock
I’ll wait for you I’ll wait for you
‘Cause I’m not givin’ up I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up No not yet
Even when I’m down to my last breath
Even when they say there’s nothin’ left
So don’t give up on
I’m not givin’ up I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up No not me
Even when nobody else believes
I’m not goin’ down that easily
So don’t give up on me
I will fight I will fight for you I always do until my heart Is black and blue
The girls and I have always been very head strong in the department of taking up for what we believe. I have always loved how my girls fight for people and situations. They would do anything to take care of those they believe in. They would go up against the toughest defendant to fight for what they know is the correct thing to do. Jay has always taught them that no matter what you do you go by the DO RIGHT RULE!
Many times this is difficult. It can be difficult when people don’t see the truth, when people feel completely different about a situation or circumstance. This fighting for something or someone may sometimes lead to difficult conversations.
BUT isn’t this what we should do? We should fight for that which is right, that which is God’s word?
But do we?
There are situations every day that confront us with things that don’t go by the do-right rule. The enemy is real and fierce. He stops at nothing to try and knock us down, hold us down, and then counts to 3 and then loves to hear the words you are finished.
But God’s words give us the truth.
God fights for us. He is always shielding us, protecting us, and strengthening us, even when we don’t realize it. We don’t need to struggle; he fends for us; he is always with us; he is still covering us. His words are powerful, accurate, and full of wisdom that we can stand up to anything and anyone that tries to knock us down.
If we struggle with the words or the truth or how to fight for that which is right, we must turn to the bible for the truth.
DEUTERONOMY 20:4For the Lord, your God, is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.
The Israelites faced overwhelming opposition. We too face oppositions today, in a wide variety of things and situations. We can feel outnumbered, helpless, hopeless, and think that we are alone; however, God fights for us. God gave the Israelites confidence by reminding them that he was always with them and that he had already saved them from the potential danger. We can feel secure when we realize that God is with us fighting for us. He has overcome even the most difficult of situations.
When I think of God, I think of Him fighting for all of us every day. Fighting for us in this world of chaos and confusion. Bowing His head in prayer, praying that we lead by the do right rule, fighting for His truth and never giving up on us. He is with us when we have to face the most difficult of days and those tough conversations.
WHY do I feel this is what He does?
Because just like the good parent that He is always HE IS FIGHTING FOR US and never gives up on us!
