Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
CONFIDENCE: firm trust, believing that one can rely on someone or something, feeling certain
ASSURANCE: a positive declaration intended to give confidence; a promise of confidence or certainty about something
Believing is tough. We all want to see. We want to see what something looks like, we want to see it happen, BUT that is not true faith. Having faith is believing before we see.
God told Abraham and Sarah that they were going to have a son who was going to lead many. Abraham and Sarah decided to take things into their own hands and make it happen because they couldn’t see it was going to happen with the two of them. They also laughed at God. Wow can’t imagine laughing at God. Yikes! (Genesis 18:1-15)
The disciples got in the boat because Jesus said to them,” Let’s go to the other side.” A storm blew in, Jesus was asleep, and the disciples were in panic mode. They wanted to see that they were going to be moved to the other side without being rocked by the waves. Jesus was sleeping soundly, he was snoring. He wasn’t worried. Oh, them of little faith. (Matthew 8:23-27)
Lazarus had died. He had been dead for 4 days when Jesus arrived. Martha wasn’t happy. She couldn’t see behind the stone. She thought there was no way that Lazarus could live, he was cold and partly decayed by now. Martha was even sassy to Jesus. I envision Martha with her hand on her hip in normal woman mode and saying in a sassy voice, “About time you got here, but you are late!” (John 11)
In all of these situations the participants were focusing on the natural. God was focusing on the supernatural. God was going to perform miracles. He was going to perform miracles without the participants seeing. All God asked of them was to do as He asked. He wanted them to have faith and believe. He TOLD Abraham you will have a son. He told the disciples Let’s GO TO THE OTHER SIDE. Jesus didn’t ask Martha for her opinion. All he asked was to MOVE THE STONE.
All of these are miracles. Did Abraham and Sarah have a son? Yes. Did the disciples get to the other side? Yes. Did Lazarus rise from the dead? Yes.
You will not see the miracle until you believe in miracles. You must believe before you see. You have to take out the logic, the education, the income, the success, the reasoning before the stone will be moved and the miracle is before you. Once you move the stone your miracle will be behind it.
Stop blocking the miracle. Have confidence in who God is and have the assurance that he will do what he says he will do. When you believe in the miracle before seeing the miracle you have moved the stone.
