Officer Tommy Norman had two brothers come to Little Rock from San Diego to see what he did. They had been following him on Instagram and were so inspired. Officer Norman inspired them so much that they started a company called “Rich Inside.” They said this,
“You inspired a world and continue to do so every day. We promise to do our part. You give faith in humanity. You give a voice to the unheard. You lead with love. You lead by example. Thank you for what u do for everyone, not just what you did for us. You changed our lives and many others by simply being kind. “
As I watched Officer Norman and the two brothers visit, I thought, “How do we become rich inside? ”
Don’t we all want to be rich inside?
The internet definition says this: To live “rich inside” means prioritizing inner fulfillment and well-being over material possessions, focusing on experiences, relationships, and personal growth, and cultivating a mindset of abundance and gratitude.
But how do we live RICH INSIDE?
We must remember it is better to be rich on the inside than on the outside. We all want to be rich, but it is better to be rich in faith than in worldly things.
As it says in James 2:5
New International Version
Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
We often mistake riches on earth as a sign of God’s approval and blessings; however, God doesn’t promise us earthly rewards or riches. Actually, God calls us to be ready to suffer for him and give up everything for him to have eternal life.
God has gifted us all with great gifts of mind, body, and soul. Many people search all their lives for happiness outside of themselves, neglecting or abusing the gifts given to them for the sole reason of achieving happiness.
If you remember, years ago, one of my “Coffee with Cupcake” was about happiness vs. joy. We don’t want to have only happiness, which is temporary; we want to have joy (a fruit of the Spirit)- be able to find joy no matter the circumstances. So, to do this, we must
nurture ourselves, and work on ourselves from the inside out.
Working on us from the inside out is work. It takes time to work on you so you feel rich on the inside. You have to remember that God created you, and everything he created was good. He has a plan and a purpose for you, no matter what. God has gifted you with talents, so use them.
I began thinking of ways I have worked from the inside out, and it helped me feel rich.
1. Spend time with God daily in His word and prayer.
2. Listen for His voice.
3. Taking time to self-reflect
4. Finding strengths
5. Being comfortable with uncomfortable things
6. Find a tribe and invest in them
7. Communicate thoughts and feelings
8. Taking care of you
9. Building a hedge of protection around you
10. Saying no and not feeling bad about it
11. Setting goals and working towards them
12. Looking at what you are thankful for.
There is only one you. Treasure your mind, body, and soul. If you care for your most valuable asset., you will be rich on the inside.
GOD has gifted you with all that you need!
So, this week, remember these things to receive JOY and be rich on the inside:
1. **Show up for JESUS** – Start your day in the Word.
2. **Show up for OTHERS** – Serve others, whether they are like you or not, whether they annoy you or you don’t understand them. That is what Jesus did; He showed up for EVERYONE.
3. **Show up for YOU**—You need to fill your cup before you can help fill others’ cups.
We will find JOY when we show up for Jesus, others, and ourselves.
Have a great week, Love to ALL! Cupcake
